Originally from the UK and living at the Precinct since December 2025, Anuj shares how his first apartment became a place he is proud to call home.

Anuj has lived at the Precinct since December 2025. From his first day, he says the welcome from neighbours made a new city and his first experience of apartment living feel like home.
He moved to Perth from the UK in September 2024. After starting out in a large 1970s house in Booragoon, he spent his free weekends searching for a modern, low-maintenance home with river views.
The moment Anuj walked into his apartment at the Precinct, he knew he had found the one. The location and views mattered, but it was the community around him that turned an apartment complex into somewhere he genuinely feels part of.
His advice is simple: say hello in the lift, join in, support the businesses in the building and make the most of the ways residents can connect.
How long have you lived here at the Precinct?
I’ve been living at the Precinct since December 2025, and from the moment I arrived it has genuinely felt like home. What has made it so special isn’t just the beautiful apartment or the location. It’s the people. From my very first day, everyone I met was welcoming, kind and always happy to help. Moving somewhere new can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re experiencing apartment living for the first time, but the warmth of this community made me feel like I belonged almost immediately.
Is apartment living a new experience for you?
Yes. I’m originally from the UK, where I lived with my family, so moving into my own apartment has been a completely new chapter. Before finding the Precinct, I lived on my own in a dated 1970s three-bedroom house in Booragoon. I was incredibly grateful to find somewhere to live when I first arrived in Perth in September 2024, but maintaining such a large house by myself wasn’t easy.
Whenever I had a free weekend, I’d view apartments around Perth, always hoping to find somewhere with beautiful river views. The moment I walked into my apartment at the Precinct, I knew I’d found the one. Looking back now, every inspection was worth it because I finally found somewhere that I’m proud to call home.
Do you live on your own or with family?
I live on my own, but I’m very lucky to have my mum and brother visit me from the UK. My mum spends up to three months each year here in Perth. Being able to share my home and show her the life I’ve built here is something I’ll always cherish. Those moments together make the distance between Australia and the UK feel a little smaller.
Why did you choose apartment living?
Initially, I was looking for the lifestyle that apartment living offers: modern, secure, low-maintenance and in a fantastic location. I wanted to spend less time looking after a large property and more time enjoying everything Perth has to offer.
What I didn’t expect was how much of a community the Precinct would become. Between the community site and app, WhatsApp groups, monthly newsletter and Social Club events, it’s easy to stay informed, ask questions, meet people and feel involved. For someone moving into apartment living for the first time, those things make such a difference. They turn what could just be an apartment complex into a community where people genuinely look out for one another.
What is your favourite space in the building and why?
For me, it’s definitely Stonewater Indian Restaurant on the ground floor. I’m a regular there every weekend because they make my favourite dish, chilli paneer, exactly how I like it, without the spice. The team know my order by now, which always makes me smile.
Having such a great restaurant right downstairs is incredibly convenient. Whether I’ve had a busy week at work or simply don’t feel like cooking, I can take the lift down and enjoy one of my favourite meals. It’s one of those little conveniences that makes living at the Precinct so enjoyable.
What facilities or services would you like to see in the building?
I’d love to see a barber or hair salon on the ground floor. It would be so convenient for residents. I also think a bakery would be an amazing addition, selling freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries every day.
Another idea would be occasional pop-up shops where residents and local businesses could showcase and sell their products. We have some incredibly talented people in our community, and it would be a great way to support local businesses while bringing everyone together.
What advice would you give someone to get the most out of life here at the Precinct?
Get involved. You’ll be surprised how quickly strangers become familiar faces. Say hello in the lift, join the WhatsApp groups, download the resident app, subscribe to the newsletter, support the businesses within the building and make the most of the Social Club events. They’re all wonderful ways to meet people and feel connected.
For me, that’s what makes the Precinct so unique. It isn’t just somewhere you come home to at the end of the day. It’s somewhere you genuinely feel part of. In a world where people can often feel disconnected, finding a community like this is something truly special, and I’m incredibly grateful to call the Precinct home.
