Nick Purnell at the Precinct concierge desk

“My main focus is to ensure residents feel heard, valued and supported.”

If you have stopped at the concierge desk with a parcel question, a building query or a concern you were not quite sure where to take, there is a good chance you have met Nick.

What he enjoys most about working at the Precinct is building relationships with residents, getting to know them and finding small ways to brighten someone’s day.

At the concierge desk

A friendly first point of contact

Nick listens to residents’ concerns, helps where he can and connects people with the right manager when a matter needs to go further. He also works with the Council of Owners on building issues and wants residents to feel comfortable raising a concern.

Next time you pass the desk, say hello. Crochet, dogs and electronic music offer at least three easy conversation starters.

In his own words

Getting to know Nick

What do you enjoy most about working at the Precinct?

Building relationships with the residents and being able to brighten someone’s day. I like having conversations with residents and getting to know them too.

I also enjoy working with the Council of Owners to address the building’s issues and create a welcoming environment where residents feel supported and comfortable raising issues.

How do you support residents in your role?

I listen to their concerns and provide assistance where I can, or provide the contact details for the correct manager. My main focus is to ensure residents feel heard, valued and supported.

What is something residents might be surprised to learn about you?

I am a passionate crocheter. My nanna taught me when I was 19. I have made more than 15 cardigans for myself and five cardigans for my nanna, who gets very excited to tell her friends that her grandson made them.

I have four dogs: a Chow Chow, a Bernese Mountain Dog and two Maltese-Pomeranian crosses.

I am also a raver with a special interest in techno, drum and bass and psytrance.

What were you looking forward to when we spoke?

Going skiing in New Zealand in July with my dad, starting my Certificate IV in Strata Management and finding new things to crochet.
